Middle Georgia is beautiful in every season, and the Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park provides unique history, opportunities to see rare and endangered plant and wildlife species, and a special opportunity to enjoy being outside in an area untouched by years of nearby growth and development.

The only known example of a spiral mound in North America can be found at the Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park’s Lamar site. The unique 20-foot high mound was built by Native people who used it from 1350 through the late 1500s. During low water levels in the Ocmulgee, the mound is accessible by a ranger lead tour. Reservations for this guided hike can be made by calling (478) 752-8257.

Sheridan Construction is teaming with Stafford Builders and Consultants to provide construction management services for the new Northeast High School and Appling Middle School in Macon. The project includes approximately 82,000 SF of renovation and approximately 83,000 SF of new construction.

One of the main attributes of the Northeast High School project is the construction of a new 19,500 SF fine arts auditorium with supporting performing arts spaces, including a large practice room, small practice rooms, administrative office space and instrument storage casework. The auditorium features a large hardwood floor stage with new lighting and sound systems and a seating capacity for 609.

Northeast High School also features new science labs, general classrooms, a large media center, cafeteria and kitchen renovations separate from the middle school, administrative offices and a storefront vestibule, refurbished locker rooms and installation of a new indoor walking track in the existing gymnasium.

Construction for Northeast High School was completed in July 2019 in time for the new school year. Appling Middle School is currently under construction to be completed in July 2020.

We have joined together to organize the "Team Kenny - Float the River" benefit fundraiser for Kenneth (Kenny) Waller. Kenny, a life-long resident of Sandersville, GA was diagnosed last year with Stage IV Esophageal Cancer, a life-threatening disease.
As you may know, Kenny has worked as an Operator at Bulk Chemical Services, LLC in Sandersville for many years. He and his wife, Deann, are recently married and have a 10-year-old daughter, Hayley.
During the course of his treatments/recent surgery, Kenny's immune system has become seriously compromised; he is exhausted and has been experiencing extended periods of sickness. However, Kenny's continued optimism and faith in God are commendable. As you can imagine, the medical expenses for cancer treatments are quite hefty. Kenny and his family need our help.
We are asking for your generous support with a monetary donation or raffle prize(s) to be awarded after the benefit fundraiser on July 27, 2019. Raffle prizes can include gift certificates for services or goods, t-shirts, hats, goodie bags, or other miscellaneous merchandise and products.

Rum Creek Wildlife Management Area
is located in Monroe County. The 5,884-acre property has hunting opportunities for deer, turkey, small game, dove, waterfowl, and coyote.

Lake Juliette is a 3,600-acre reservoir operated by Georgia Power that is surrounded by the Rum Creek WMA and is adjacent to the Rum Creek MARSH project, a refuge area for wintering waterfowl. The most common species of ducks found on the lake include ring-necked ducks, lesser scaup, teal, and mallards. Canada geese also can be found feeding on open points scattered around the lake. No waterfowl hunting west of Ebenezer Road, except that youth may hunt waterfowl between Ebenezer and Juliette Roads in the designated Youth Area.

No motor in excess of 25 mph may be operated on Lake Juliette.
